Being cognitive humans, one of the most recognizable images we see and make are faces/heads. It is the ultimate identifier, which defines the singular nature of our existence. Although artists have made self-portraits since the earliest times, it was not until the Early Renaissance that artists began depicting themselves as content in their work.

The idea of exploring ones own psych, through multiple abstract studies of the self, is a modern concept. This series of hundreds of drawings and paintings began as such, then transformed into a study of the universal, over a ten-year period. Originally from the self point of reference, it was pushed to a more generalized exploration of mankind. What makes us the same and what makes us individuals [seen from my eyes to "God Size."]

This mixed media series of intimate scaled paintings employs similar processes, abstractions, mark making, materials, and the expressive nature of the artists larger scale works. Color, opacity, grids, and graphic references present as much of the content as the actual subject does. The resin surface on and in between the layers of information allows the viewer to engage the artist's process and at the same time see a reflection of "them self."
